In this solo episode, I’m encouraging you to slow down and enjoy the journey to your dreams. In our fast-paced society, we do a lot of rushing around from one thing to the next, and we’ve developed a mindset that doing things fast is the only way to achieve success.

I’m challenging you to change your mind about that. Instead, I want you to give yourself permission to slow down and find a pace that fits your lifestyle. As moms, we have a lot on our plates. We have obligations and responsibilities that take precedence over our wants and desires. And we simply don’t have the luxury of doing everything fast. When we try to do too much too fast, we can start to feel overwhelmed and put ourselves at risk for burnout.

As you listen to this episode, I want you to think about the pace at which you’re currently living your life and pursuing your dreams. Are you living in the moment and enjoying your journey, or are you constantly moving at such a fast pace that makes it difficult for you to enjoy it?

I share tips to help you slow down and enjoy where you are right now. You don’t have to go fast. You’re not competing with anyone. These are your dreams, and you can set your own pace. If you’re consistent, then you’ll eventually get where you want to go.

Do you agree?

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this topic. Let’s continue this conversation below in the comments section. If you’d like to share a personal comment, you can email me at: Erica@momswithdreams.com. I love hearing from you, and I promise that I will respond.

Until next time - Reclaim YOUR dream. Do what YOU love. Make a difference.

Take care,

Erica

Have you ever felt like the way you feel about how you are and what you believe don’t match how you’re living your life? If your answer is yes, then you’re going to love my conversation in this episode.

Lucinda White is an Inner Wildness Guide, an expert in the process of self-discovery and personal transformation, and author of Confessions of a Bone Woman: Realizing Authentic Wildness in a Civilized World. Through private coaching, public speaking, and her writing, Lucinda teaches how to be authentically wild in a civilized world.

In this episode, Lucinda helps you understand why you may have, at some point or another, felt disconnected from who you truly are and how you’re living your life and showing up in the world.

Lucinda explains how this is a common thing that most people experience, and how you can reconnect with your “authentic wildness”. This term may be unfamiliar to you right now, but after listening to our conversation, you’ll know exactly what it is and how it relates to you.

During our talk, Lucinda shares key points about acknowledging your feelings and understanding how they support you in your journey. She shares advice to help you reconnect with your inner self by connecting with nature, and much more.

Listen with an open mind and heart, so you can receive Lucinda’s message and apply it in your life as you see fit.

This has to be one of the most personal episodes that I’ve shared to date on my podcast. To be quite honest, I got a little nervous when my editor told me that it was ready to go because that meant it was getting closer to me sharing one of my most recent struggles with the entire world. I’m not even sure why I started to feel this way – especially because I know other people have gone through this before.

Even though I know I’m not the only person who’s ever gone through this, I was having a little fear of being judged. It’s scary to be vulnerable and put your truth out there for the world to know. But at the end of the day, this isn’t about me. And if I can help at least one person by sharing my struggles and my truth, then I’m doing exactly what I’ve been called to do.

That said, this week’s episode is about me sharing a personal dilemma that I had, which caused me to doubt myself and consider quitting. Yup, that’s right! I had gotten myself all worked up to the point where I was ready to throw in the towel and disappear into the land of nothingness – doing nothing after work except for sitting on the couch and watching television. (Luckily, I saved myself from that misery lol).

I tell you all about what I was going through and I even let you know about a business that I started last year, which I’ve never even mentioned on my podcast until now.

After I spill all of my truth, I share what I did to help myself get out of my own way and back on track (this is where I found my sweet spot J). I mention that one of the things that helped me get back on track was the book, Feel Free to Prosper: Two Weeks to Unexpected Income with the Simplest Prosperity Laws Available by Marilyn Jenett. I highly recommend that you read this book – it will change your life! You can get your copy here.

Maybe you’ll relate personally to my struggle, and maybe you won’t. Even if you’ve never faced this challenge, my hope is that you take something with you that will help you get through a struggle you’re facing. I also hope that you realize that quitting isn’t the answer. There’s a solution to every problem – we just have to be willing to search for a solution and implement what we learn.

Thank you for listening and for being here with me on this incredible life journey. As you’ll hear in this episode, I don’t have it all figured out, but I’m enjoying the process and valuable life lessons as they come.

If you love this podcast, I hope that you’ll subscribe here on Apple Podcasts. You can also listen on my website at http://ericablocker.com, Android App, Stitcher, and now Spotify - yippee!!

Self-care has become quite popular over recent years with more women taking it seriously now than ever before. Women are abandoning their superwoman capes and heading to salons for hair maintenance, nail treatments, and massages. They’re making time for themselves and have started to understand that they aren’t any good to their families or anyone else if they aren’t taking care of themselves.

In this episode, I have a conversation with Julia Aziz, an interfaith minister, licensed clinical social worker, and author who supports those who care for others - whether they are healthcare professionals, counselors, educators, or natural caregivers.

You’ll hear Julia’s definition of self-care, which is quite different from the popular definition that you may associate it with right now.

Julia talks about:

  • How you can begin to acknowledge your needs and how you’ll feel as a result of this practice
  • Why you may not feel well even when you’re practicing traditional/popular self-care rituals such as exercise, healthy eating, getting enough sleep, spending time with friends, and treating yourself, etc.
  • The harsh inner critic that “can see no right” and leads you down a path of self-blame
  • Knowing when to create boundaries to avoid the unhealthy practice of beating yourself up
  • Why self-forgiveness is so important for moms
  • And more…

I invite you to listen intently with an open mind and heart. I challenge you to choose at least one of the concepts that Julia shares and start your own self-care regimen.

Welcome back to a new season of the Moms with Dreams Show! I’m SUPER-EXCITED to be back from summer break. Although summer is my favorite season and I usually never want it to end, I don’t feel sad about the seasons changing this year. That’s probably because I REALLY enjoyed my summer this year. I mean - I maximized the days, weeks, and months and made time for a lot of fun doing the things that I love.

Now that the kids are back in school and summer’s just about over, I’m ready to get back into the new season. I didn’t feel right about jumping back into an interview for the first episode. Instead, I wanted to share some of my summer highlights with you and also give you a glimpse of what you can expect in the new season. Granted, some things may change as we go along, but that’s to be expected. We are constantly evolving, and the only constant is change, right?

I hope you enjoy listening this season and are inspired to get closer to your dreams. If you have a topic that you want me to cover or have any comments about the show, please feel free to email me at Erica@momswithdreams.com.

Here’s to a great season together!

Love and Blessings,

Erica

Many of us have big dreams with good intentions. We have a strong desire to live out our dreams but often fall short with taking the action to make them become our reality.

What I’ve learned is that when you really want something bad enough, you’ll figure out a way to get it done. I’ve also learned that the “doing” part is often the hardest. For me personally, it’s easy to get started on something new, but it’s much harder for me to see it through to completion.

In episode 125, I share six tips to help you to go from being a dreamer to a doer. Living your dreams requires work on your part, and you can’t skip any of the work if you want the results.

I’m not going to give away any of my tips here because I want you to listen and take notes. If you’re unable to take physical notes while listening (as you may be driving or working out), then I want you to take mental note. Then choose at least one tip that you’ll put into action now, so you can become a doer and experience the life of your dreams.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this topic and hear about your big takeaways from this episode. You can leave a comment over at http://ericablocker.com/125 or email me directly at Erica@momswithdreams.com.

Thanks for listening and being a part of my extended family. If you haven’t already subscribed to this podcast, you can do that ApplePodcasts, Stitcher and here.

In this episode, I celebrate my 3-year podcast anniversary with you. This has been an awesome journey, and I could not have done it without you. Thank you so much for all of your love and support.

At first, this was going to be a celebratory episode for moms as a continuation of Mother’s Day. Personally, I think moms should be celebrated every single day, but I’m not the one in charge. As moms, we go to great measures to take care of our families, support and love our significant others, and make sure that everyone has what they need. Being a mom is hard work, and it never ends, so yes – we should be honored and celebrated every day of the year.

But this episode is not about that. Instead, I decided to share with you 5 important lessons that I’ve learned during my 3 years as a podcaster. These aren’t random life lessons. They are actually lessons that I didn’t expect to learn from podcasting, and they ultimately helped me become a better mom.

I invite you to listen with an open mind and see which of these lessons either apply to you or can help you also become a better mom.

I would love to hear your thoughts and comments. You can start a discussion below in the comments. If you prefer to share with me personally, you can email me at Erica@momswithdreams.com

In this episode, I talk with you about the topic, success is always intentional. Before you can achieve success, you must define it for yourself. At the top of this talk, I offer a general definition of success and encourage you to apply it to your life. I challenge you to define success for yourself and identify what you want to achieve or attain in life.

Next, you have to understand that success doesn’t show up overnight, and it requires you to work for it. You have to be intentional with your time and action if you want to achieve something different or go beyond where you are right now.

Then I talk about what it means to be intentional. It’s deliberate action. It’s not being haphazard and winging it.

I encourage you to not get overwhelmed with the “how” of it all, but instead trust the process. Know that when you set an intention and take action, the how will be revealed with perfect timing. When you are aligned with what God wants you to do, your steps will be ordered.

Remember that life will always happen, so be prepared for distractions to pop up. Carve out time to work toward success, and be very protective of your time. Talk with your family about supporting you by helping out with tasks that would normally occupy your time.

As you become intentional with success in your life, you’ll learn more about yourself. You’ll accomplish things that used to seem impossible. You’ll discover that you are more than a conqueror and that you can do all things through Christ which strengthens you.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this topic. Let’s start a conversation below in the comments. Or you can email me directly at Erica@momswithdreams.com. I love hearing from you, and I look forward to connecting with you.

Until next time, Reclaim YOUR dream. Do what YOU love, and make a difference.

She talks about the power women have in their voices and why we need to start “showing up” and speaking out. Kim reminds us that we all have something important to say and that our voices need to be heard.

Kim goes into how women often talk themselves out of being great and why that is no longer acceptable.

Kim takes you behind the scenes of her journey of slowing down, finding peace and letting go so God can take over.

In this episode, I talk about the power of saying no and why it’s important that you learn how to say no and feel good about it. This is a lesson that I’ve been learning over the past few years. I haven’t always been good at saying no, but I’m much better at it now.

The truth is that I used to think that I was being mean if I said no to something even if I really didn’t want to do it. I don’t like hurting anyone’s feelings, so I often over committed and agreed to doing things for others that simply didn’t serve me. Most times when I did this, I would end up feeling bad because I committed to doing something that I really didn’t want to do. I go deeper into feeling bad in this episode.

I share two other main points that you should consider as you begin to learn how to say no. As women, we must take a stand for our own happiness and that begins with understanding the power of saying no.

As you listen, think about times in your life when you said yes to something that you should have said no to. Think about how you felt afterwards. Do you remember having positive or negative feelings?

Now, imagine how you would have felt if you simply honored your true feelings and said no. I encourage you to start implementing the power of saying no in your life. I promise that you will thank yourself for it in the long run.

As always, I’d love to continue this conversation with you here in the comments. Let me know what you think about this topic. If you’d like to share a personal thought, you can email me directly at Erica@momswithdreams.com.

MWD 114: Face Your Biggest Fears This Year

“Nothing happens until you do.” - Unknown

If you declared 2018 to be your year, then get ready to make it happen!

In this episode, I’m sharing my F.A.C.E. Your Fears formula to help you make 2018 your year for real. You’ll want to carve out 15-30 minutes of quiet, distraction-free time to go through this exercise.

I will walk you through the four steps of facing your fears:

  1. F- Fears – what are they?
  2. A- Admit that you have certain fears (instead of sweeping them under the rug) and Assess your Fears (why are you afraid of ________ and what is the root of your fear?)
  3. C-Choose the fear(s) you’re going to face this year. Challenge your fears. Create a new outlook and a plan for Change
  4. E- Execute your plan

I truly want the best for you and I believe in you. Take back your power and face your fears. Don’t let another year of letting your dreams live on the shelf. You can absolutely live the life you desire and deserve. It begins with facing your fears and not being controlled by any beliefs or stories that don’t align with the vision you have for your life.

I’d love to continue this conversation with you here. Simply leave me a comment or thought and I’ll be sure to respond. If you want to send a personal note, you can email me directly at Erica@momswithdreams.com.

Your kids are watching and learning from you – even when you don’t think they’re paying attention. They’re observing your behavior, your reaction to different situations and how you manage life overall. In this episode, I pose this question, “are you setting the right example for your kids?”

I share a recent “textversation” with my teenage daughter that opened my eyes to this concept of me unknowingly setting the right example. She made me see just how much she’d been paying attention to the way I’ve been navigating my life, without ever saying a word.

I’m sure that you’ve had moments in your life when you’ve said one thing and done another, right? Or, maybe you parent by the old adage, “do as I say, not as I do”. Well, if you have, I’m not judging you. But I want you to stop and think about how this lifestyle and parenting style could be influencing your children and what lessons they’re learning from you.

I go into this her and I also invite you to reframe your thoughts about pursuing your dreams. It’s easy to think of going after you want as a selfish act worthy of guilt, but really there’s more to it. You can hear my take on that here, too.

As you listen to this episode, I encourage you to think about your behavior, habits, routines and personal beliefs that may not be the best example for your kids. Challenge yourself to change one at a time. As we approach the New Year, work this into your goals and make a conscious effort to improve. Be gentle with yourself and embrace the journey.

Your children are worth it and they deserve it.

I’d love to continue this conversation with you here. Simply leave me a comment or thought and I’ll be sure to respond. If you want to send a personal note, you can email me directly at Erica@momswithdreams.com.

In this episode, you’ll learn:

  • 3 common reasons why most people don’t follow through with their New Year’s Resolutions and goals
  • A fundamental step that most people miss, causing them to fail at their goals and vision

  • And more…

After listening, you’ll have a better picture of what it takes to achieve your goals and dreams in the New Year. If you follow through with my advice and tips, you can absolutely create the life you desire and fully deserve.

Setting yourself up for success begins with you making a decision that you’re (a) ready to live the life you desire and deserve and (b) ready and willing to put in the work to make it happen. In episode 109, I’m talking about how moms have to learn how to let go of our children regardless of if we want to or not. One thing that I know for sure is that our babies are born completely dependent on us. Then they grow up and eventually become independent.

How do you let go when your teenagers are more interested in hanging out with their friends than the family?

How do you react when your college freshman asks if s/he can stay at school or go with a friend’s family for the holidays?

How do you pull back the reigns and gently advise your teenager when you’ve been so used to laying down rules and regulations?

What’s the fine line between giving them some freedom and becoming too lenient?

How do you’ land the helicopter’ after so many years of hovering over your children?

What do you do now that you have more free time on your hands?

Letting go isn’t easy – not even for the most tenured moms – so there are no simple answers to these questions.

In preparation for this episode, I spoke to women with adult children and they still miss their kids. It’s even more challenging for them around the holidays when their adult children can’t be at home with them for family meals, quality time and family traditions.

I’ve been dealing with the mom dilemma of letting go with my teenagers. My youngest son is a junior in high school, my second oldest son is a senior in high school and my daughter is a freshman in college. As I had conversations with other moms of teenagers, I realized this is a universal thing and I decided to talk about it here on the podcast.

In this episode, I discuss 3 major shifts that your teenager is experiencing, painting a bigger picture that helps you understand what they’re going through right now.

I also share 7 tips to help you get through this stage of motherhood without feeling like your kids don’t love you as much as they did when they were little OR that you’re losing them to the world (both thoughts that I had and still have sometimes – just being honest).

I hope you find this helpful. As always, I’d love to have a conversation with you about this. Simply leave a comment below and let me know what you think. If you have a personal comment that you don’t want the world to read, you can email me directly at Erica@momswithdreams.com.

In this episode, I take you behind the scenes of my 3-month break from podcasting and coaching. I share why I took an extended break as well as some of the changes I made to my podcast.

The main point in this episode is that, despite what you may think, taking a break helps you get closer to walking in your purpose and living your dreams.

Our fast-paced culture (and world) can make you feel like taking a break is something you shouldn’t do if you’re a dream chaser or an entrepreneur on the rise. However, I’m here to share the truth and let you know how powerful taking a break from everything can be to achieving your goals and dreams.

I’ve learned that sometimes

  • It’s better to stop and rest rather than to keep pushing yourself when you’re tired.
  • You have to stop and be still so you can receive guidance on the direction you need to go in or what steps you should take next.
  • Your creativity can get blocked if you have too much on your plate.
  • You can face getting burned out and overwhelmed if you neglect to step back from all that you have going on.

As you listen, you’ll hear me share four key lessons that will help you understand the power of taking a break and how to do it effectively. After all, taking a break should empower you to move forward – not hold you back from living in your purpose (i.e. performing the work that you were born to do).

If you have a lot on your plate or feel like you’re reaching your limit, then this episode is a must-listen for you.

I encourage you to listen with an open mind and take notes. You might hear something that really resonates with you. You might even have an a-ha moment. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this episode. Leave me a note in the comments or shoot me an email at Erica@momswithdreams.com.

Julie Neale, the founder of Mother’s Quest Community and host of the Mother’s Quest podcast, honors both the magic and the mess of motherhood and believes that our children challenge us to grown into our best selves. Julie is on a mission to live a truly E.P.I.C. life and, through her example, inspire her children and other mothers to do the same.

In this episode, Julie and I discuss:

  • Mother’s Quest – what it is and why she created it
  • The guide posts to live an E.P.I.C. life as a busy mom
  • The biggest challenge Julie thinks women face
  • The cost of not investing in yourself and your business
  • And more…

I hope you enjoyed my conversation with Julie and that you heard something that resonated with you. I know that investing in yourself as a mom is a BIG challenge – especially if you’re not accustomed to doing things for yourself. I struggled with that for years. But like Julie said, think about the cost of not investing in yourself and how that will impact you and your children in the long run. Hopefully, that will help you start investing in yourself.

I’d love to hear your thoughts and comments. You can post a comment below or you can email me directly at Erica@momswithdreams.com. I look forward to hearing from you.

Next week is my final interview of the season! I’m going to miss hanging out with you every week, but I’m looking forward to taking a break. While the podcast is in off-season, be sure to check out your favorite episodes again – you might hear something that you didn’t hear the first time around.

I’m always looking for suggestions as this show is about making sure that I’m providing value for you. If there’s a topic that you want me to cover, someone you want me to interview, or if you’d like to be a guest, send me an email or a private message on Facebook.

Until next week – reclaim your dreams, do what you love and make a difference.

All My Best,

Erica
